I have had some of Stew's ( bcrockhound) Dallasite tumbling for awhile and have been looking forward to seeing how they would tumble. It tumbled pretty much like I thought it would. The harder minerals in the stone took a high shine and the softer areas took little to no shine and became a little recessed. It actual makes for a neat look. The rest are a wide variety of mixed stones. Dallasite pudding stone filler had one cab in this load bloodstone cabbing scraps two shots of this one. one pic to show the shine and another to show the pattern. neat agate in matrix? mossy K2 Thanks for looking, chuck

Great job! That is very interesting and helps me understand my own tumbling experiences. That mossy agate is amazing too. Thank you for tumbling those, I appreciate the education very much.

I have two of my 15 Lb barrels running with all Dallasite from Stew in both, hoping to cull to one barrel of material worth moving on when the time comes. Should have waited to pre-shape some of the stones as some can be rather irregular, but that's what the culling will be for. I'll work with shaping the culled part of the batch later.
Chuck, I'm curious as to your rough tumble time (I assume you finished in a vibe?) and which polish you used on the Dallasite. I tend to run tumbles for a long time, I will have to keep an eye on undercutting I guess - thanks for the heads up! Was your tumble super foamy?
Love that cab and the moss.

Nice batch. Love the cab and the mossy one. The Dallasite is a neat rock no matter how it finishes.
Question .... K2? Probably obvious but what is K2 ?

Thanks for the answer. Not as obvious as I thought. The blue is cool, one of my favorite rock colors.

Cool tumbles but that cab is outstanding. It looks like a high altitude photo of a rain forrest.

I'm fairly new to this rock business and had never heard of K2 either. Wanting to know more I googled it and found this interesting discussion thread. K2
Interesting stuff and hope to get some one day. I hope you don't mind me posting this on your thread!

Interesting stuff and hope to get some one day. I hope you don't mind me posting this on your thread! no problem. I did a bunch of research too and came across that same information but there are so many different opinions out there to say for sure what the minerals in it are. I just know I like it. The pieces in this batch were just saw scraps and I expected them to undercut real bad but they seemed to do alright. pretty expensive stuff so I only bought enough for a couple cabs. Chuck

Hey Chuck, I love those rocks too- so different and original. You have an amazing array of rocks at your disposal, and always achieve a superb finish on everything you process! The hat is off!
