Just went through a rough last few days with the family. Granddaughter had a sore leg, growing pains right ? 12 year old, growing sporty type girl surely nothing unusual. Well her dad took her to the doc, after some xrays they said take her NOW to the Childrens Cancer place at University of Chicago. A couple hours later we all took a trip and 2 days of tests later we find out she has some bone cancer, Osteosarcoma something. She will be getting chemo in a couple weeks and has a long road to travel. There is still a lot to figure out at this point but I do know she needs all the prayers that anyone can spare.
Thanks in advance Chris

Almighty Lord,
Cover this your child with your sovereign hand, bring restoration and healing to their bodies.
Amen.

What terrible news. I got a lump in my throat telling my husband. I have a granddaughter abt the same age. Our family sends our most heart felt well wishes to yours. Hang in there. My 30 something year old nephew seems to have beaten his cancer... medicine has come a long way. Big hugs!

That's brutal sorry. I hate it when the harshness of life affects children especially. Will include her in thoughts and prayers.

Life can deal out some pretty rough stuff but when it is a child or grand child "pretty rough" doesn't even come close. I also have a twelve year old grand daughter and I would be devastated from something way less than cancer. My heart and thoughts go out to you and your family. It will be rough but keep in mind that it can and will be cured. Jim

Thanks all for the prayers and support. Mya is doing fine despite the diagnosis which was confirmed as the osteosarcoma type. Probably spelled it wrong but you get the gist. They claim that this type is very curable after the chemo and operation to remove the affected part of the upper leg bone. Right now they are trying to come up with ideas to have a benefit to help with what the insurance won't. That is the next thing to deal with, a sick kid and hospitals that want money. Nobody has talked cost yet but it will be more than his crackerbarrel insurance can cover I'm guessing. I'm the sane one (debatable) of the bunch at this point , driving them up and back, keeping the show going. If anyone has tips for chemo other than don't get it I'm all ears.. Till now I haven't actually made a cab other than playing, some nightlights yes and tons of slabs. So I'm going to give the thing a shot. Stripped the rust from the antique lortone combo unit and put a light basecoat of rustolium on it. This one has the old and thick sheet metal, once painted up with the hammered metal olive green I'll be set. Mount the wheels, trim up something green and make some oval oblong cabs to put into an as yet to fabricate cross pendant and we're good as gold. I know this is likely way over my head but my eyeballs have always managed to keep my mind and body full. Whether that be food or ideas. I think she will be happy with most anything that Papa makes for her.. Thanks again all

Here is her pendant finally 95% done. She loved it even though it's pretty rough by forum standards. On the downswing with her treatment now. Bone removed and 99% kill of the active cancer for her. 10 more chemo treatments and a year of crutches to go. Those guys at Comers Children's in Chicago are awesome. She's doing better with the treatments now that they put her on the Marinol nausea meds. Prognosis is great and her Faith has been tested and found solid. I would not have done nearly as good as she has. Just an update and wanted to thank all for prayers. You guys Rock !
