This was from either snowmom or fantastic5 and don't know what it is. Different rooms different lighting. I have some of the worst lights in history. Need to build a light box soon.

Probably came from snowmom and the name is right on the tip of my tongue AH HA Unakite. Didn't think I was going to be able to pull that one out. Quite common here also. Jim

that'd be me, but it isn't "true" unakite because it has black in it. It is feldspar granite with epidote in either case.. but "unakite" is always pink or red and white feldspar and white quartz with the green epidote in it.

Jimi, Jugglerguy Rob has a super unakite collection, he has posted pictures of some spectacular polished pieces..I have seen some 'in person". Enough to make you drool. They can be very "gemmy"

I've recently found a bunch of it that's mostly green, a whale of a lot of epidote in it... makes me think of pistachios..... I like the ones with the deep red feldspar the best... more contrast.

So what do you think this is? Not sure if there is any black in it or not. Jim

those are good ones, unakite all the way! As for being up this time of night, it is morning here, I get up at 4AM eastern time... You being way out there in the west, you're probably just going to bed when I wake up. If you are a night owl. I go to sleep with the chickens and get up before them! old people don't need much sleep.

In the top pic of Jimi's cuts there seem to be little black flecks. Yours seems to be part of the vein of epidote, maybe olivine, (the mother of epidote), which can be real dark green.

You are constantly impressing me with your ? terabite mind and apparently total recall. I have been at this at least five times longer than you have and you blow me away almost daily with your sponge mind. How many hours a day do you spend in rock school? Jim

LOL, I do that too. Those question marks. I think the face is supposed to look perplexed maybe? ? I love learning, and now I am retired I get to study things of my choice for as many hours a day as I want to. The internet is a huge learning tool, but like any source needs to be verified by multiple references. I have always loved research. Rock school commences at 4 Am with my first cup of coffee and goes until I think my poor brain will explode with input. Then after lunch I am usually back at it again for an hour or two, and again before bedtime. It is my form of recreation. If I am not out hunting or enjoying nature, I am reading non fiction( OK, I confess to reading mysteries too- one a day, I am a very rapid reader &I like the puzzles) or looking for info on the internet. Its my main form of recreation. I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to do that, and to live in such an interesting and beautiful location. A dream come true.

Doesn't get any better than living the dream. I am happy for you.
I am working my way back into it after a bit of a hiatus. lol Now I only read when I am eating lunch and dinner (messy sometimes) but there is no way in hell I could read one book a day. Besides, even at thrift store prices I could not afford it. Ya, I know about libraries. hahaha I am now searching for the rest of the books "Hunger Games" because I have read the first one. Jim

Jimi, I just realized we totally hijacked your thread. My apologies. (Jim what will he think when he wakes up and checks the forum and sees us in runaway mode? LOL)

I try to not let that happen. Just wasn't paying attention and just blabbing like right now.
Sorry Jim

I've found rock with green magnesite in it that looks similar to broseph82's example.
