Someone did not want anyone else to be able to use the area, or they were just too vapid to realize that they were screwing anyone who tried to drive up this road.

Fill your holes and leave the place better than you found it. Simple for most. While others cause lands to be made off-limits for all. Geesh.

4 low and straddle it I agree, that is completely uncool to leave it that way did it look like they were following a vein of any sort? I doubt anyone would put in that much effort to make the road impassable, and it would be dug across the tracks

Probably done by the claim owner. Doesn't that road end in about 100 yards at a mine?

LoL, last time I had seen something like that, it was claimjumpers. Stupid idiots dug up the road in search of agate and ended up covering in the honey hole.

That mine is worked out any way but it is still asshattery to dig a trench in the road where it prevents someone from turning around. This spot gets lots of visitors and the road has always been plenty good to go up and turn around safely.
This is the spot I call the Diane Mine even though it might actually have a real name.
I named it after Drocknut because her and I found gem silica there.

Looks like a perfect grave for the one that deserves it.
1) Place claim jumper in hole 2) Cover it up just as he found it 3) Drive over to pack it

The above post was from phone. Now at home looking at image better. Yeah, I am certain if I saw that in the field I would have immediately started to look for a claim marker. That was dug by machinery, legal only for commercial digs.
I am thinking the claim owner was in town getting X_Y_Z_ or some such when you were there.

It was dug by hand. There are undercuts where whoever it was was following something. No machinery can make the undercuts like that.
And there are no claim markers there except for the one about 100 yards away that has been laying on the ground for at least 5 years.

mark I first saw that site 2 years ago, when on a trip with Diane and others from RTH. There was a large vein shaped bolder there, I didn't figure it was worth tearing up the road to get to it though! they could have at least pushed the dirt back in so others could get through. That is the sort of thing that brings BLM down on us.

He was following a seam. The location marker is at the intersection with the claim paperwork in a pvc tube. It was still standing last month but they do tend to get knocked over, removed or shoot. Claim jumpers are notorious for destroying claim markers thinking that they cannot be prosecuted without claim markers.
