Drummond Island Rocks Could you please tell me what cabbing machine and wheels you use? I am researching machines, and your cabs are always awesome! Thanks, Andrea

Drummond Island Rocks Could you please tell me what cabbing machine and wheels you use? I am researching machines, and your cabs are always awesome! Thanks, Andrea Thanks. I have the best of both worlds. The reliability and quietness of the genie combined with the clean water gravity feed of the lortones. I also have a lortone arbor with my 80 and 100 galaxy hard wheels mounted so that free's up a spot on the genie and allows my to mount my 120 galaxy, 280 nova, 600 nova, 1200 nova, 3000 nova, 8000 nova and then for final polish I can do A/O on leather or 14,000 diamond on canvas with a 6" lap mounted to the end of the genie arbor. I do have a couple China flex wheels in my rotation right now and I might have just been lucky but they have worked ok so far and the cab in this post was done using a china flex wheels in the 3000 and 8000 spots. There is a definite quality difference in the nova wheels vs china wheels and I only expect half the longevity but they were 1/3 of the price and I was in a bind at the time. I do have the magnifying attachment but I use separate one that has a halo ring and light. Hope this helps you a little. I have nothing bad to say about the genie at all. My lortone arbor has needed bearings and a belt once already and bearings should be done again right now but I am waiting for warmer weather. Chuck

At first I thought your agate was "real". Now I know better. NO ONE has a Genie that is that clean!! It has to be magic, thus that is why the agate looks so good!? Seriously, great stone, that's for sure!

Seriously, great stone, that's for sure! Thats funny - thanks. I am a bit of a neat freak. The genie trays get washed in the laundry tubs after every use and the whole unit gets wiped down and dried after every use too. It never sits overnight with rock crud on it. It has been coated in black slime many times cabbing covelite, psilomelane, hematite, and just recently some messy mohawkite. It all comes right off and never stains anything. chuck

That has a very nice flow to it. I agree! I like how the colors are separated by the band with little splotches. Lots of character and mesmerizing to look at. Great cab!

So when you say you have "clean water gravity feed of the lortones" does that mean you modified the original genie with something from Lortone? Is that what the tubing and gang valves are? If so, how is the water pumped through the tubing?

Chuck So when you say you have "clean water gravity feed of the lortones" does that mean you modified the original genie with something from Lortone? Is that what the tubing and gang valves are? If so, how is the water pumped through the tubing? I purchased mine used and the water feed system is a gravity feed. It has a one gallon container that sits on a shelf above the genie. By clean water I mean its always fresh water not pumped from a recirculating bucket. This comes in handy right now because the temperature in the basement is cool so I fill my one gallon container with HOT water before I start and it helps the dop wax keep its bond and makes it more comfortable to cab. The other advantage to a drip feed is that it can be adjusted for a heavy flow to keep all the dust (toxins) down. Chuck

I was just researching this topic this morning because I'm thinking of doing the same. Check these two links out: Chuck's SystemI'm thinking of using the valves in this thread.
