In Tucson this year, a friend of mine bought a 55+ lb. bucket of gem silica from Namibia. Since he was getting ready to drive around the country and didn't have room in his car plus he didn't want to take the stuff back to Brazil, guess who ended up with lot's and lot's of gem silica? Major score! Those are beautiful!! I would love to see a side profile shot of the first cab with the malachite (?). Looking forward to the test results on the material.

Here are some more pixs of some different pieces. I just packed up the one with the malachite and a some others to send to my friend since he needed a few samples. This is a sample of the blue mysteryite with some gem silica (chrysocolla) on the bottom. I'm not certain it's ajoite yet it's pretty. Here's a cab cut from a portion of the mysteryite. Here's another cab but entirely different with more red (cuprite?) and opaque. I haven't sorted the entire bucket and don't have time. So this was just a random pick. I'm sure tare some other interesting pieces in there.

Thank you, RocknCritter. Those are beautiful, too! The rough and cabs are wowzers! I think it may be cuprite in the cab on the right. Killer pattern and colors in it! Was checking out info on ajoite and came across papagoite. There's some pics of it in John Betts' Mineral Museum page: www.johnbetts-fineminerals.com/jhbnyc/mineralmuseum/gallery.php?init=PapagoiteRead that there's a lot of 'fake' ajoite and papagoite on the market now. Most sold by the metaphysical sellers that is actually chrysocolla. Not trying to give the metaphysical folks a bad name, but that's what I read on the internet.

Beautiful! I love those colors- fabulous. I have some stuff put away that may be as nice, but I'm afraid to cut it. I have a small cab of papagoite. If you'd like, I can get a picture for you. It is a blue like azurite only a shade or two lighter and brighter. Very blue, not like blue chrysocolla.

Thank you, rockjunquie, for posting your beautiful papagoite cab! I've never heard of it before until I did a search on ajoite. Do you have rough pieces of it, too? The bright blue is papagoite This is a small cab. If it were any bigger the blue might knock me over. ROFL! The color is an intense blue.

Do you have rough pieces of it, too? I wish! An old rock hound buddy was kind enough to part with this... for a price... for my collection. I don't believe he has anymore. I hear it's rare as hen's teeth.

Thanks, RocknCritter! Just noticed that you posted a different pic of your first cab so you may see the malachite in it much better. That cab is the bees knees!
