puddingstone granite, first time I ever have seen this. just like the 'real thing' but with miniature bits of red and black instead of the big pieces. Wouldn't a bead maker have fun with this?
next is a nice piece of Sudbury Onaping impactite, just crowded with little bits of melt stuff, but the coolest part is the upper left included rock. It has bubbles and a stream off to the left, and inside is another rock which landed there while it was still melted, so it is an inclusion in an inclusion. There are a couple of smaller pieces of rock in it as well, but probably not visible in this photo. wishing for macro capability from my ancient digital camera (still).

Nice finds, snowmom! Were you able to get out yesterday and find these beauties? That would make a beautiful and Very Large bead. Maybe Jugglerguy could make one for you?

LOL jan, I was thinking somebody could make much smaller beads from it to compliment the usual larger beads... it might make good coasters, too, if the red and black go all the way through it. yes, I was out all morning yesterday. It was 50! Won't be that warm again for a while now. Found these in a ditch where a new country road had been constructed- local large sized gravel and rocks about softball to football size used for fill in the ditch for about 2 miles! Rock hog heaven. I have only explored part of that road. I'll be going back.

Glad you were able to get out and enjoy hunting for those darn pretty rocks, snowmom! Just kidding about the large bead. Would be interesting if you asked Jugglerguy to make one for you, though.
