This is our favorite cab of all the materials we brought back from Germany - and it's my biggest heartbreak. The crack you see is from the backside - basically the dop pulled a large chunk out of the back of the cabochon. I sat down and felt like crying when it happened. I glued it back in place and even though it doesn't have commercial value anymore it's still beautiful and I plan on making a pendant out of it one day.

Luckily it is a pretty enough stone in its own right to be worth keeping and treasuring, == even with crack. I'm sure you know someone who will be proud to wear it. Rocks are ephemeral but only rarely so and thus when they disappoint us its even more tragic. Tom

That is a beaut, Tommy! Crack? What crack? I don't see no crack!
The beauty of the stone overshadows any flaw.

that sure looks like sweet material. one of your prong wraps should keep it together and hide some of the back.

That's a beauty, Tommy, and glad you were able to make it well again. Hope you'll post a pic of it when you wrap it and before giving it to Eva as a gift.

Oh man, I am so sorry. It totally sucks when that happens. It is such a beautiful cab, too. I feel for ya, dude.

Bummer on the "OH CRACK!"...(I would've used a far stronger word in private of course). But that's some fabulous material and a lovely cab.

I hear ya ... can't wait to go back next year we hope. If I knew then what I know now - there were a lot of rocks I passed on and didn't bring back that I wish I had.
