Howdy folks, been running a few of these Stone Canyon Jasper pieces through with each load of Rios I've been doing lately. This is the first few pounds out of maybe ten or so I'm working on. This was self collected on the last fieldtrip the CFMS ever made out there before the site was closed.....Mel

Rob, Back in the day there were tons of Stone Canyon collected. The site is pretty large and the last field trip there was huge with tons being hauled off just that day. In addition, there are similar deposits at the Varrian Rch by Parkfield, Creston, and Big Sandy Creek in Indian Valley. So there is still material to be found in the field and lots at shows and in old collections. I don't believe though, that the original pit is being opened for collecting by clubs and such any longer, unless things have changed. I'd consider it still fairly common at shows, especially local shows like Snyders, Stoddard, or Bako. This lot is from a few leftover scraps I had from some rough I sold Capbob here at RTH.....Mel
