Found this in my creek the other day. Looks like a snail to me. It measures just under an inch at the widest point Opinions?

Good ID. Find them in FL occasionally. Usually in limestone, small ones in death plates that are well silicified. Well done.

I can safely say I have never seen a fossilized snail in person until this one popped up. One of these days i'm going to get on my hands and knees near the limestone bluffs where I found the trilobite I posted and see what else is to be found. The creek gets on a tear when we have heavy rains, so things get moved around a good bit

Cool fossilized snail find, radio! Is that a rock inside of it, or is it part of the fossil that is seen in your second photo?

Cool fossilized snail find, radio! Is that a rock inside of it, or is it part of the fossil that is seen in your second photo? thanks. It appears to be a part of the snail and I'm guessing it is the same part as the round protrusion that is seen in the first pic. Gonna be kinda hard to dissect the 'lil critter to find out for sure Well, I do have a trim saw, but I kinda like him whole
