Nevada is already in the works to try and take its State land from Federal control.

The problem with the states getting the BLM land is that the states end up selling off the land to China, Germany, France etc. When this happens, we really don't get to rock hound those areas. I think selling off is worse than protecting.

I think selling off is worse than protecting. Or they sell huge parcels of land to the likes of Ted Turner, who immediately fenced his millions of acres, put armed guards on ATV's on patrol around his fences, and only allows his billionaire buddies to come in to hunt his land. I should add that Ted Turners land holdings are some of the very best Fairburn agate & Nebraska blue agate hunting grounds in existence. The only way to protect our public lands would be to turn it over to the states with the stipulation that before any of that land can be sold or leased by the state government, it must first be brought to a state wide vote.

I think selling off is worse than protecting. What do you think the BLM is doing and why they keep going for these land grabs? The BLM here routinely hold land auctions selling of the public land to developers, etc. Then they go grab more land, hold it for a while, sell it off then go grab some more land. Do you know why they were going after Cliven Bundy recently? It was not because of unpaid grazing rights as the media was told and was reporting. Collection on most of those grazing rights was far past the Statute of Limitations to begin with since they went back 25 years. So why was the BLM all of a sudden so anxious to get Bundy's cattle off the land? Senator Reid's son Rory has a solar energy business and had a deal with the Chinese to put up a solar farm on the land Bundy had his cattle on. Of course they cannot do that when the cattle are still on the land some they concocted this BS story about going after him for the unpaid grazing fees, which is a civil matter. In other words that DOES NOT give the BLM the right to go in and drive off the cattle unless they first take Bundy to Court and get a Court Order to remove those cattle. Remember a little thing called the Constitution that our government seems to think is nothing but a piece of toilet paper? The Constitution CLEARLY states that individuals cannot be deprived of their properly without due process. Due process in short means your day in Court to provide any and all evidence you wish in your defense. The BLM thus was violating the Constitution and Bundy's rights for the benefit of Rory Reid and the Chinese. The media was just being good little puppets as usual and reporting in the manner they were told. For instance they kept trying hard to make the protestors look like the ones that were instigating things when BLM officials and the police were the ones that were deliberately attacking people without provocation. For example, if you watch the video and and the reports of the standoff you will see the news repeatedly harp on how one of the protestors kicked a police dog. Yes, he kicked the police dog after the dog tried to attack him even though he was not dong anything wrong. The police officer either did not have proper control of the dog in the first place or the officer deliberately released the dog on the protesters that were simply exercising their right to peaceful protest. Therefore, the protester had every right to defend himself from this unprovoked attack by the police dog. Yet the media kept trying really hard to make the protesters out to be the bad guys when they were simply exercising their Constitutional rights as the BLM and police tried to trample their Constitutional rights.

My understanding is that the land around Ruby Reservoir was public land. Suddenly it is being developed and is posted as private property.
