A casual acquaintance came to my shop today trying to sell some things to help finance a cross country move. She had this pair of earrings she said she bought at an estate sale several years back and the story was the original owner was a world traveler and had these made for her in Burma, India or Thailand. The larger Emerald is about 15mm long and is surrounded by what appear to be genuine diamonds with smaller emeralds around the edge and a small, but brilliant Ruby in the top section. There is a plate over the emerald on the back that is marked .925 and I suspect the gold is plated over sterling as I see no karat markings other than on the silver. They are quite heavy and very well made. The big emerald is a bit darker than it shows in the pic, but under 10X I can see no major flaws and only a couple tiny inclusions I ended up buying them for my wife as her favorite color is green. I'll not divulge what I paid for them until I get a few estimates going here

Never seen an emerald that large. A good reputable jeweler should be able to give you an estimate, or you can always pay a few buck to get to get an official estimate for insurance purposes. I'm curious to see what the members think.

I get many folks coming to me for ID and appraisals, especially on Turquoise and Native American pieces. The jeweler I did go to used his diamond tester on the white stones and they tested diamond. The only way to get a true appraisal would be to send it off and have it appraised, but not going to do that You can't really see in the pic, but the big teardrop stones are faceted

She wanted $200, but I negotiated her up to $220 which was all I had on me I figured these would make up for the teeny weeny Emerald earrings I bought the wife on our first Christmas 30+ years ago
