driving out over 100 miles and going another 30+ miles off the road (one way) by atv + hiking friday evening - tuesday night... can find agate, geode, jasper, and fossils. I hope to find some really nice stuff.

just got back.... i'll have photos up later... forgot to bring my camera on the 2 main mountian hikes go figure (well that could be a good thing for the locals) but I did get a lot of pics.... got a lot of really nice (for ak) material.... even found a blue opal which the geologist thinks is rare and probably more valuable than some of my other opal. It will be quite some time before I put up rock photos

I never seen huge mountains out west. I envy you! Blue opal? Sure to be a winner. Where I was is literally a trip that 99% of people would not go on because of how remote and challenging it is. It is difficult on an atv and ones body. Probably bottomed out at least 30 times on the wheeler on boulders.

Ive got to clean them first... unless you mean in place... those areas I forgot to bring my camera... although my camera could have broke if I took it to those places. next week my buddies still up that way will be getting back and hopefully putting up some pics.... theirs also a video where I rolled a rock larger than a small fridge down the mountian so it would come down safely.

You sure have some impressive geology there Glenn. Any (wild) sheep on those mountains. You legs got some good exercise :-)
