*L* Back in Commiefornia we used to feed the hummers. Then the Back Chins arrived in their gazillions and we actually had two birds per flower on every feeder. Were making gallons of feed per day. When we moved to Texas, we decided no way. Now we plant hummer food plants but have zero feeders and that's just the way I like it......Mel

We have quite a few here, not near as many as you do. Ours are very territorial, will not share a feeder.

after years of seeing 'sweet' photos of humming birds and other images of them while growing up, I was surprised to see the real thing for the first time 'in action' and real life. combative and argumentative things... amazing little critters!

Only get them twice a year here. Mid spring & Mid fall as they're passing thru. They stop here for 3 or 4 days each time.

They're only that thick during migration around here but they're mostly a little more spread-out. Highly territorial birds to put it mildly. If they were bigger, they'd be dangerous with that attitude. :-)

Wow! Have never seen that many at one time. Some species live year round here, we don't have a big influx of migrating ones. Tend to have a steady amount, just how many can live peacefully in one area.
I know they don't weigh much, but I wouldn't want one of them to skewer me when they don't pay attention to where they are going. Years ago, had one not pull up in time and it hit the top of the fence, knocked it out cold! We picked it up and put it in a box (so a cat wouldn't get it), turned it loose when it came to it's senses.
I don't put anything out for them, have plenty of flowers for them to get their fill on.

Wow, that's a lot of hummers. I love watching them but haven't seen many here.
