The song "I can see for miles and miles" by the Who comes to mind looking at a few of those photos. Enjoyed the photos.

Thanks for sharing. What's that last one, the gray and green-yellow?

What a difference in landscape. Born into forests, so prairie would not be for me. Wouldn't mind finding some of those crinoids (?) though. Thanks for taking us along.

Thanks, folks. Have to love the wide open country. I grew up in the forested country myself, and most of my relatives are in Vermont/Northern NY. After spending most of the past nearly 36 years in CO and WY I get all claustrophobic if I have to go back there. Can't see any distance at all. Green crap covering up all the rocks. Yuck.
Tim-not sure what that rock is, to be honest. After the picture it went into the box of stuff to mess with this winter when there is more time. The area it came from is probably an ancient riverbed. Never know what you're going to find there.

I need to make my way up there one of these days ....how's the fishing on that stream ?? I think you're right. That was my first thought when I saw it, but haven't had time to mess around with it yet. Have a few more similar pieces around here. Put them away so I could find them again and haven't seen them since. The fishing on that little crick is pretty decent early after runoff settles down. Nothing real special, brookies in the 7-10 inch range. Farther downstream there are a few browns in the deeper holes and some of them will run to 12 inches. There are a couple of campgrounds near there so by this time of the summer they've been hit pretty hard with every kind of lure and bait imaginable. Mid-June and #16 elk hair caddis will provide lots of entertainment. Russ
