Cool! The contrast between the pictures really shows the silver. yeah, not as much as i'd like but its mostly pyrite.. maybe some hematite.. everything that is not is jasper. I all the sudden have a lot of free time so i'll be making a lot of stuff. My workplace really slowed down with jobs so they laid me off. I'm hoping when september comes I have a new income... untill then i'm hoping lapidary will help.

Good news, you get to play with rocks. Maybe you can find a way to sell some and make up some of that income.

Yeah that's what I'm hoping, I'm going to apply to game stop since they know me on a first name basis already and they are flexible. Next college semester (in spring) I need work experience in my field which I'm hoping will turn to full time. This job wouldn't be permanent I presume but it will be a good filler and get me some front line experience.

My son is getting ready to leave college and start looking for a new career. He's older than you, I think. He's 38. He was in the Navy in the sub fleet and then made missiles for Lockheed. He needed a change. He's looking at the Jefferson Lab particle accelerator for an entry position. He would be happier there.
Good luck working it all out and enjoy your time with the rocks. I know it's been hard for you to get the time to do it.

Really nice heart!!! You mights be able to sell Right off of Facebook. Many do! Transitions are not an easy thing, but part of the ride. Choosing the direction YOU want to go seems to be the most prudent... Whether being a truck driver or asteonaught, if it's what you want to do and what makes you happyZzz and pays the bills, that's where you should go! Enjoying the ride is what is important!!!!

The one pictures is pretty much sold as i'm making it for someone. Besids work getting slow which I have a feeling is the reason they wanted to get rid of me... the main reason they thought of is because I was feeling unsafe or had safety concerns (ie. one co-worker wanted me to take over running the metal cutoff saw... he was abusing it and was wearing no hand or eye protection.. I told him if there are safety glasses I would seeing how I already had gloves... just one example of many unsafe things... I wanted to talk to the boss about safety so I let our secretary to know ask him about a meeting time and they lay me off instead. Its all ok though... I would rather not have a job than work unsafe... I value my body more than my job.

You want to do some selling, you ought to get back out and collect some more of this stuff. Where you found this was quite a bit closer to home for you wasn't it than your recent trips? I recall that this material generated a lot of comments and interest. Looking forward to seeing what you got on your last trip into the mountains.

However, before I can slab anything, I need to make my saw area oil resistant. I would like to go back to the area but the river has came up with all the rain and all the areas I could access now I picked over fairly good.

you do an excellent job on hearts! Wonderful cab! Fran Thanks, they aren't all that difficult to make... although making them with pyrite can be tricky as its easy to take off too much material. I'll probably make more as some people like them more than easier shapes. Ive got a small thing i'm making out of bureno jasper that is looking nice... it came as just a scrap but works decently.

If he could find that quality rough, he sure wouldn't have to worry about paying his rent for awhile. Someone bought a bit of that awhile back, did they ever do anything with it?

Maybe if I can go back in October and get a little farther up river than I can bring out more. Ive got another trip this weekend but next week I plan to start prepping the saws and garage for use again. at that time I will start slabbing that material
