Sweet batch of "local" rocks! I truly envy those of you that have rocks worth collecting close to home. favorite = Looks like hematite in a quartz?

Bill and Bob, I think there is hematite in both of your favorite rocks.

#9 with the tangerine color, and #10 clear with 2 hematite(?) bands
some of those are hard to tumble, you got the A-1 shine.

You got a nice shine on those. And do you cut the shamrocks from a die or is it just free hand?

To make shamrocks, I started by finding a picture I like on the Internet. I printed it and cut it out, and then I trace it on the rock with a fine tipped Sharpie. I use my trim saw to cut the rest. I get close and then use the edge of the blade as a grinder. I try to make my last pass by dragging the rock backwards on the blade. It's not that difficult. I make Michigan shapes out of Petoskey stone, our state rock. They're almost easier because the rock is softer, although the shape is more challenging. I usually just do the lower peninsula, because the upper is a pain.
