Yesterday I went to the show in Black Canyon City, AZ. I got a couple of slabs and a 2.5 lb piece of Birdseye Rhyolite. Then I was at the second to last booth going through a couple of buckets and the guy asked what I was looking for and I said "just something for me to cut up". So the other guy said he would give me the bucket of pet wood for $3. It was kind of dull, so I asked where it was from he said "Northern AZ". It didn't look like wood from there...so I continued looking through another bucket. Then he said he would give me that bucket for $5. I liked that. Then he said if I would buy the pet wood he would throw in the Apache Gold. So I said "OK" I gave him $10 and as he was looking for change I told him to keep it because I think I got the better deal. Here is what I got. I spent a total of $18 with the slabs and Rhyolite.....Yeah!! I don't know what most of it is...so if you know please let me know. Also, some of it is kind of rusty so you can't see the true colors or patterns. Do I soak those in something or just start cutting them up...and tumbling or cabbing them as they are? Thanks! Andrea Birdseye Rhyolite Slabs...the guy said the green one was marble and his wife thought the other one was jasper from Table Mesa. Ok here it the stuff from the buckets...first the whole pile....Pepsi can for size reference. Wet and sorted Close ups Pet wood Idk Apache Gold and idk Agates and idk I really like these two....love the little white spots in the bands Montana agate, obsidian and idk

I like your chunk of Birdseye rhyolite! Anytime you can get a couple buckets of for for ten bucks is probably a good day.

Yes that's Apache Gold. I've never seen it before. They showed me a polished piece..it was pretty cool. I'd say it was just a little bigger than Buckeye, maybe 15 or so vendors.

I'm surprised it wasn't a lot bigger of course I don't know --as I've never gone to the show but its been around a long time
couple years ago there was a break away group that had a show at the Shiners in Phoenix trying to start a tradition unfortunately it wasn't very successful but there were lots of vendors there with multitude of stuff but pricey
rocks need to be outside and free to see
mostly
