Don't know. Does the number 32 match up with anything a faceted needs?

Dave, the dead center would be hardened steel & would come to a point. The business end is an aluminum dop stick, the same as are used with faceting machines.

Just googled " antique faceting machines". Saw something there that resembles your item--- called Spider Bola".
Looks to be a part of a machine. Good luck!

Website describes it as a Stanley, the original Ultra Tec faceting machine. There are other photos as well of old faceting machines. It's in Factors Symposium 2000 Report by Bob Keller. Scroll down a lot. At rockhounds.com
