It is supposed to be a great show. Quite a few of the Desert Gardens dealers left Q to do the show or did the show and arrived late at Q. Good luck.

It took us 3 days to set up at Desert Gardens. Didn't want to move over there Or set up late at Desert Gardens. The last year we did it they were threatening daily fines for every day late after the 1st. I've heard they are threatening to not hold spaces for any dealers that leave after Pow Wow for Tucson. I don't think they understand there are more shows in the world. No on Apache Junction although that is a great show too. We are now only doing Pow Wow at Quartzsite, Denver and Tucson with Barranca, and probably Stoddard Wells and maybe Joshua Tree with very limited set up.

I was totally thrilled and had rock’n time at the Flagg show in Mesa Attended 2 days out of 3 . There is a lot to see with about 100 vendors Got just what I was looking for at good deals I had my Ladmo bag with me my problem is— I got more bag than money Ha Ha a florecensent display --hard to photograph but you get the idea a large quartz crystal from ‘cordial trader’ a working replica of stamp mill great fossil set-up from some really fine folks that reside in Mesa. The name was something like Conneramara?. I hope to see them again soon. Egg carton specimen what a deal!! Pay 1 dollar and the had about 200 different specimen cheaper by the dozen. Really a good deal. Much of the stuff I can cut and polish This where I hung out mostly! Beefjello and Lonetree setup. They had it rock’n! I got the 2 slabs on the left from Rodney That black is palm and the grain is going to polish fabulously and a slab of what I think is sandstone Although Brian may be more right and its marble Plus 2 slab from Brian I found one of his finger of God slab That light blue is totally cool and smoky chunk of quartz. that I plan to slab & polish Like I said I had more bag than money but a little rock goes a long ways! Special thanks goes to Rodney & Brian They rock that place!!

right on Russ ! It really is an unique show with many different types of things going on. They had the Peralta Stones there. And the mineral specimen selection probably only second to Tucson with some very good deals
That chunk of Topaz I got was only 8 dollars. Not quite faceting quality-- but a serious chunk of topaz
Anyway with Q just down the street (well your not really coming from that direction) but it almost bucket list quality...

Sounding better all the time. Had hoped to get to Quartzsite before this, and head over there for a day. Hoping to pull out of here in a couple of days. You going to be at Quartzsite? Every thing I do these days is bucket list stuff.

That’s funny Russ. People ask how I’m doing and I say: like rock rolling down hill picking up speed. And this isn’t Mt Everest. At least were moving. Hopefully we will get some more updates. But everyone had to go back to work today and its only Monday Ha Ha The reality of rocking all weekend...

Great to see you out there Ed! Despite some crazy weather it was a pretty darn good turn out. One thing they did away with this year was allowing vendors to camp on site. According to one of the organizers it wasn't based on any issues that have come up in the past, just a decision made by the property owners. Apparently this put off several vendors enough not to show up even though they paid for their spots. Kind of interesting. Anyway here's a pic Christa took of me and Edmo talking to some pebble pups passing by. It was good to see so many kids out there, many of them talking passionately about their rock collections. The future of the hobby!

That is interesting Brian. Lots of vendors mentioned that to me. and I would imagine it puts the Flagg association into a tight spot. They will have renegotiate that b.s next year or find a new spot. Because that how lots of vendors operate their business economically. I’m not sure how the city of Tempe/Mesa justify it! Its an annual advent, with quite a history, that based on people expectations to stay in their RV/Trailers.. I looked up the dealer contact on the web page. From what I saw --it didn’t mention that restriction. Matter of fact-- it just said to be respectful with noise/trash if you choose to spend overnight. Maybe that's the old contract? Anyway the show is building up. I think, but it could crash with such a stupid ruling. Long live rock !
