Took a break from soldering in Nov/Dec. Back now. Huge backlog but fortunately no orders, just stuff I'm doing. Just a pretty Sardonyx I ordered awhile back. Kind of a rough outline, on purpose. Precious Beryl (colorless) on sterling, although in sunlight there is a rainbow of flashes. This one was not fun at all. I had a really hard time for some reason. And there's a little goof. Not sure if I can even sell it. Been enjoying seeing everyone's new work. You guys are amazing.

They look good not sure I see any goof, where is it? On the right side bezel. The texture on the ring is really nice.

The goof is that I was sloppy and some oxidation solution went over the bezel and seeped under the stone. Between 5 and 5:30 you can see a dark area. The frame looks like there are few textures in that area, too, but that's just how it photographed. And yes, a little extra solder where you mentioned, Tom. Had to file it down, couldn't get all of it. But you can't see it with the naked eye.
And Dave, you cracked me up!

Looking on big screen instead of iPad.
Hmmm, ok now I see it but from experience I know that these damb camera's of today pick out every flaw that there is, even when they can't be seen by eye. I think you should be able to pull that stone pretty easy and clean up the oxidation? I have found that type of bezel is pretty easy to pry back but I am sure no pro.
I just use the tip of an exacto knife to start a space between the stone and the bezel, then I use a really fine burnisher and work the stone loose.
If you don't mind sharing, how did you do the texture on the ring? I really like that.

They look good to me. Even after reading your comments about the "flaws" I don't see them as anything other than confirmation of handmade jewelry. Real handmade does not need to be flawless.

I used a little hammer with a sharp end to texture the piece. I did do the final finish before setting. I got as much of the extra solder out as I could. At some point you have to say F it. As for taking it out, there are quite a few fractures and experience has taught me that I'll probably break the stone if I try. I ruined a stunning piece of Kyanite removing it. And yeah, with the naked eye, none of this stuff is visible.

Today's cameras are to good lol

LOL no Tom, I textured the pendant with a small hammer. The ring I just bashed the bottom plate with the ball peen to texture it. I had some trouble getting it even so was cutting away. The ring base texture is basically a bunch of mistakes. But it's a great stone and I'm not selling it so who cares?
