This is a piece of tie-clip-gone wrong that has sat in my recyclables until such a moment came along as I was looking for some 5mm wide strip to set this emerald. The matt finish was achieved by (filing / emery / glass brush ). I made it around Christmas, but then stashed it. I wasn't happy with the finish ... or the setting. So I reset it and then re-finished it, sat on it a while more, then today I filed it back and refinished it again. I think it might be thereabouts now:

Thank you - a Valentines gift for my wife. As we went to see some Irish music and dance last night, it seemed topical so was presented just a little early. She seems happy.
