Hi all,
I would really like to get a makers mark custom made, anyone have any recommendations for a place to get this done. It would be my 3 initials about 1 mm tall. Does that sound about right?
If anyone has seen that device Soham uses that would be super cool but a hit it with a hammer would be fine too.
Thanks

Tom, I had my stamp made by Columbia Marking Tools ( columbiamt.com ) about 4-5 years ago. It's a simple metal stamp, my 3 initials at 3/16" in height. The cost, with shipping, was under $50. My pieces in general are not small, but lean this side of the larger side of things.... the letter size suits me fine. - Robin

I don't know anything about his company but a 3-letter looks like it runs a little more than what oriole6 mentioned but looks like you might can get smaller sizes...the smallest they show is 1/16" or around 1.6mm www.columbiamt.com/store/R-Buster_Hand_Stamps09.html

Tom, I had mine made by www.infinitystamps.com. I designed it myself, & provided a pdf file. You can also just pick from standard typefaces. It was about $100. The Sterling stamp is a separate stamp from Rio Grande. Lynn

If you're just after your initials, consider some basic 3mm high or whatever A-Z a-z stamps and DIY. You can also pick up some basic stamps with various images to accompany if you wish. Bearing in mind they're about £6 in the UK, that would normally translate to $6. Not the exchange rate, just everything in the UK is over-priced, ha ha!
Hallmarks (in the UK) are applied by the Hallmark Office, not something you DIY as they provide a legal recognition to the piece so any change except complete meltdown has to be authorised before the change.
