But I find that some pay to digs won't be open until I'm on my way home. My plans now are to get some Keokuk geodes on my way west, Maybe visit my daughter in Colorado Springs and check out some hounding locations near there. Head up to Oregon, stop at Glass Buttes to pick up some obsidian, go to Richardson Ranch to get a bunch more rock, head back east checking out some hounding locations on the way back home. I'll probably leave home April 15-20 get back home May 15th or so. I should get to Oregon by May 1 and leave a week later. Anyone want to meet up?

Hey come on along! I'm not going to spend more than a couple days there so I won't take it all. Oh, and cinnabar is nice.

Have you decided a route that you want to take?
Which states do you plan on visiting?

tentatively - I live near Buffalo, NY - I 90 west to I 80, to a turn off to SE Iowa (Keokuk), South to I 70 west to the turn off to Colorado Springs, north on 24? to I 80 west to turn off to Glass Buttes, probably ending up in Madras OR, playing around that area for a few days, north to Ellenburg, WA then E I 90, try to find Catmandewe to sort out his rock pile, drop down to Yellowstone. Then depending on time, energy, and money, try to get to N Dakota 'cause I haven't been there, back to S Dakota, or just jump back on I 90 east with maybe a side trip to UP Michigan, and go home.
Man, I'm tired and broke just thinking about it!

Lee, if you plan to visit S.W. South Dakota, give me a shout. I won't be able to make it out, but I can hook you up with a couple folks that live around Rapid City, and know all of the hot Fairburn agate spots.

Money is going South for this trip...gotta put a grand into my Durango...So cutting my trip to going as far west as Iowa/Missouri then going to a couple knap-ins in Georgia and Alabama, going amethyst/gold hunting in Georgia, and trying my luck looking for emerald and other stuff near Spruce Pine, NC. Makes it a 3,000 mile trip instead of 6,000. Maybe next year.

AArrghhh! OK - I just bought a ton and a quarter lapidary rough near Denver - the price was right.Having my daughter in CoSpr pick it up and take it to her place. So now it looks like a trip to Colorado and while I'm in the area, Oregon for a few days, then Iowa, then home. Might try for a rock sale in CoSpr so I don't have to ship it all home.

OK, plans are finalizing. I just bought a bunch of stuff for resale in Georgia....soooo.....The plan is to go to CoSpr and get there April 7, I'm going to have a bucket sale April 8,9,10 then pack the remainder to ship by freight. Leave CO April 14 and head to Keokuk, Iowa, spend a couple days there and go home. Hook up my show trailer and go to the North Georgia Knappin April 21-24 and pick up the stuff I bought either before or after the knappin. Go to Moundville Archaeological Park south of Tuscaloosa, AL for another knappin. Head towards home May 2. Stop by Spruce Pine, NC and look for more rocks for a day or two and go home. All this keeping in mind something about "best laid plans".

Calcite and dyed Brazilian agate mostly. Had a chance on some below wholesale. Drop down to Moundville the last weekend of the month. I'll at least have stuff out on display. Now on my way back north I might do an amethyst dig in Georgia depends on the weather and the condition of the farmer's field.
