I seen this you tube video where a guy named Dennis Hardy hammers out wire for a wire wrap. I got out some copper wire I gleaned from some heavy cable and tried it my self. This is my first try at this so hopefully I will get better. Seeing I am going to sell some of these I also bought his video because otherwise it would be blatant plagerizing. So maybe they will get good enough to sell. My wire was a hair short so the bail isn't as big as I wanted. One of the things you will see on his you tube channel is his tools. He polished the back of a hatchet and a ball peen hammer to mirror finish and uses a wooden block to hold hatchet. Talk about a minimum amount of tools you can have to start the process. Kind of makes this tool junkie want them. Here is one of his videos.

As soon as I seen your post I knew I had seen something similar on here just had to jog my memory. Even before orrum posted his I had been seeing some listed on an Etsy store. I still need to watch your video link but what gauge wire? looks heavy like 10 or 12 household copper wire. Chuck

That is very interesting. Mr Dennis makes it look easy. It isn't. I tried. toiv0 Your example is much better than my attempt.

Yep that was my same exact thought. It would be easy to put on quite a show with this wouldn't it.

catmandewe neighbor in quartzite does stuff like that. He uses a polished boot last that is over 100yr old. It has a floor mount. Wasnused by his Grandpa to make shoes, if memory serves.

Great work. Can be used on tumbled shapes. Tried similar and hammer kept enlarging cage. Did you anneal ?
I avoid watching videos and standard tools just to be certain things go original.

Interesting. Why is a piece of fur? wrapped around the hammer handle? With the carved handle and wire wrapped around it also, I'm thinking it's purely ornamental.

Hey Scott I taught the guy next to Catmandew/Tony how to do Hillbilly Wire Twisting. He has gotten very good, I only showed him the basic wrap. He has designed many more styles of wraps!

There's a guy on etsy making bank with it. He gets a lot of nice stones from 49erminerals. Does nice work with really great stones.

I just got his video and haven't had time to look at it. I think I got it but a few tips to refine and speed things up will be nice.
