The Mother Lode Mineral Society is having our 50th annual show this upcoming weekend in Turlock, California. We have dinosaur lectures, fluorescent displays, multiple children's activities, geode cutting, rock sale, wheels of fortune, over 40 dealers, a megalodon jaws display, bracelet making, soapstone carving, 20 demonstrators including faceting, lapidary, fused glass, sphere making and bead stringing. The show is one of the best in California with our attendance including about 3200 children and 4500 adults. It's a great show! Hope to see you there! Bob

Bob runs the show. He's the guy walking around in the vest making it all happen It is a very good show - the club does a nice job with it and they have a lot of extra activities to keep families with kids busy. Eva and I went last year and were bummed that they wouldn't let in with our dog. It was a 3-hour drive down so Eva ended up staying outside while I popped in and said hi to Bob and made a quick circuit around the vendors. We've been going to around 9 shows a year with regularity and this is the only one that doesn't allow dogs - despite the fact that several of the vendors I saw had dogs with them - oh well <shrug>.

Tommy, thanks for the context. bobby1, do you know if anyone will be selling used cabbing equipment? It's a long drive for me, and that would be the major draw. Thanks!

Sorry to stick my nose in again but last year bobby1 was managing a large pile of used equipment (and rough rocks). I don't remember specifics but yeah there was a lot of stuff. Hopefully he'll chime in and let us know if he's bringing that stuff back this year.

Unfortunately, we sold all the used equipment last year. Tommy, I'm sorry for the experience with your dog. Yes, two dealers do have dogs but they are restricted to having the dogs restrained within their booths and not having them mixing with the attendees. Our show gets quite crowded especially with kids (we had 3200 last year) and we can't have a mix of dogs, kids and people where the dogs could be negatively interacting with each other. One year there was a dog show concurrently with our show and the owners were bringing their dogs into the show and it was not a very good situation. Bob

We were just disappointed after such a long drive down there. It's our own fault for not checking ahead I guess. Still it's a very nice show and I highly encourage every who can reach it to attend.
