duh...but couldn't resist throwing them in my truck, of course, at Burro Creek!
Anybody recommend a place that will saw my large rocks in half for me, or quarters for that manner in Central CA? How much can I expect to be charged per inch? Square inch or linear inch?
Thanks! I've got about 8 boulders to start with. ;D

Hey Dee, my 18" saw isn't set up yet, otherwise I'd cut them for you. When I do get it running again, I'll drop you a line to see if you still need things cut.

Stoner, what an offer, that would be great! YES< I still have your bag. I didn't want to send it 'empty' - so if you're not in a hurry, I'm working on it!

So it looks like Ed and I are in a race to see who can get their 18" saw up and running first!
I'm almost an hour closer to you Dee, and I'd be glad to slice some of them up as well.

Sounds like you have it covered. A fair price would be a few slabs I think. About 35 years ago my father and a friend loaded a huge strawberry onyx boulder and took it to have it cut in half. The rock shop wanted 1/3 of the rock to cut it. They left in a huff. Both are dead now and the rock is under a tree in the yard.

Wow, thanks guys! Ed or Pete: I buy lunch and share rock! Let me know, I'd love to see you guys and your big saws and how to use them. I particulary want to slab a chunk of the dendrite stuff from Burro Creek...you guys are so awesome. Thanks, john, that's a good point! I DON'T want to still have buckets of uncut rock in my living room a year or 10 from now! ~Dee

Dee, looks like you are set. My saw is a 16 incher, not an 18 so I can't saw rocks quite as big, otherwise I'd do it. Some of the ones I got are a bit too big for my saw, but most I can cut. I've got one sitting in the front greeting me every time I come home.
Don't worry Dee, I should be done with making your bag by this weekend so you won't be without too long. Steve

Cool, thanks, Steve! I tried your 'sledgehammer' technique and failed to make them smaller! Need...bigger...sledgehammer...lol! I hope to save one day for a bigger saw.
I have one rock too, the dark grey-blue stuff Gabbi brought back that sits by my front door!
Dee
