On the heels of a nice batch last week, I scraped together enough to run the Lot O in consecutive weeks. There was some overflow from last week and a few more came out of the Lortone, but the new tile saw allowed me to cut and grind enough to throw some material straight into the Lot O without the rotary grind. That and some extra ceramics. Since some of the rocks hadn't been through the rotary step, I put this batch through 120/220 for four days, changing grit every 24 hours. The rest was the normal procedure.
I cut several of the Bahia agates in order to get material that could skip the rotary. A lot of them are more interesting on the inside than the outside anyway. I'll probably glue a magnet on the back of some of them and voila, refrigerator art.
A couple that I actually spent a little time on, free forming shapes. We're a long way from the work I see on here regularly, but hey, it's fun to play.
Just a few lakers in this batch. Most went in last week.
This is what's in the Lortone now, but I did a little pre-grind on this one piece so I could get a preview.
I hurried a few of these bots in as well, the rest are waiting for a 'turn' in the tumbler. The one in the middle will be redone with the others.
I'm getting a nice collection of smalls, but what do you do with them? Use them in successive batches instead of ceramic?
And last, but not least, my favorite.
I'm liking the fact that I can now control how busy I am, not completely at the mercy of the course grind. I prefer the nice rounded stones that come with a good long roll in the tumbler, but in the meantime I'll be busy cutting bigger rocks into smaller rocks.

chazrocker, that is Mexican lace agate. Very pretty stuff, I have some tumbling along. That piece was just a teaser.
