Picked up this cutie at a local show for a few bucks. Decided I didn't want to make it fancy as the stone was everything. Satin finish on the band. Another view. It looks incredible in bright sunlight. I made it to perfectly fit my right ring finger but, yet again, it's a little too big. It seems like every ring I make for me ends up stretching a little after it's completed. Anyone else have this problem? I really took care when measuring/making it. No, I didn't push it down on the mandrel. ?

Sorry I can't help with the ring sizing but I do want to comment on how nice the ring and the stone are.

Nice! I like the scalloped bezel, it adds a great touch to the ring!

I have a standard measurement for my finger. I make the shank first and try it on. Perfect. Solder on the bezel stuff, fits great. Finish up with polish and this 'n that and at the finish line... too big.

Thanks for the kind comments. I know it's really basic compared to what a lot of you (and me, sometimes) can do, but I really did want something simple. Just left a small edging on it and a little oxidizing. Oh, and wish it fit right. grumble.

I likenit. Try the ring on for fit b4 you put the stone permanently in the bezel. That way you can redo the ring fit even if you need to solder it etc without worries about the heat damaging the ring. You could put a piece of silver inside the ring and pic solder it and not get things too hot with the stone mounted. Use a couple of helping hand clamped to the top of the ring to act as heat sinks. They will help keep the heat away from the bezel and back. Then pickle the new work with a brush dripping with pickle instead of dunking it into the pickle. No worris about pickle hurting the stone. Then file and sand and polish your addition. It will work!

Finish up with polish and this 'n that and at the finish line... too big. Pick up a Raytec ruler that has ring sizes, bracelet sizes and metal gauge sizes in addition to a ruler with standard and metric scales. www.najatools.com/ruler-jewelers-6-raytech/ and if you don't have one, a set of ring gauges for proper sizing. stay away from the el cheapo plastic gauges though The Raytec rulers are indispensable and the handiest scale I own! Just be careful to add 3 times the metal thickness to the correct size. If the shank isn't going to be full circle, deduct from the size according to how wide the gap needs to be when soldered onto the ring bezel cup base.
