Hello everyone. I found this site a while back and find myself returning more and more. I am an admitted novice to this hobby but already feel that I am "hooked". Part of the reason is because of this site !! The beautiful pictures and informative posts inspire and keep me coming back for more. Thank you all. I have learned a great deal from your posts and I hope to contribute as well. I just might need some coaching on posting pics...I'm really not that tech savvy. Thanks again for all of the help along the way.

Hi Jeff,
You're halfway there with the photo posting. On the page in your link, click the little arrow in the bottom right corner of the screen. The arrow curves up to the right. In the window that opens, click on "BBCode". Choose an appropriate size, maybe 800x600, or the next bigger one. Copy the code. Then come back here and paste the code into your post. I like to delete a lot of the code after I paste it. You'll see two img tags with square brackets around them. I delete everything outside of those, but you don't have to.
Nice obsidian. Welcome to the club!

If you figure out how to copy and paste from flickr on an iPad, I'd love to hear how. I've spent hours trying to figure it out. I think it's impossible. It's weird because Apple has partnered with Flickr to allow posting directly from Apple apps.

Thanks James. I have been following your posts for a while and they all make sense from what I have encountered in the short time I have been tumbling. I am currently using the 3 day, 30 grit, re-charge on my rough grind. Lot-O double 4 lb for anything after rough grind. Can't say enough about the Lot-O...it makes short work of the finishing stages. I lived in Gwinnett and North Forsyth, GA counties for 27 years until recently. As a former Georgian, I appreciate your welcome here. Jeff A

30 grit every 3 days is the way to grind those stubborn rascals. And no shine like a Lot-O shine. I was raised in Dekalb, moved to SW Atlanta for past 35 years. It is like Dekalb County 50 years ago, pastures and farms.
Petrified coral can be collected in the Ecinofina River, about as far west as I know of.
Glad to have you join the RTH.

Thanks Fossilman.Glad to hear you are feeling better (seen in the shout box). That obsidian is currently in the tumbler. I'm hoping for a few good ones to choose from for shotgunner's next months "Tumble-a-Palooza".

Welcome to the forum. Nice mahogany obsidian. I never knew it existed until I found a piece at Vatnajokull while backpacking Iceland. Been in love with the stuff ever since.

Welcome to the forum Jeff. Hope you have a great experience with everyone here. I live in Utah, and have a good size collection myself, but The cool thing about joining is getting involved in traveling Boxes, trips, and rock exchanges.
