this is a piece I carved last week when it was raining and I was stuck in the shop. The main stone is a 20 carat topaz that will be burnished in place. The smaller stone is a 5 carat topaz that will be tension set between the two prongs where it is resting.the bail will be a separate cast piece that will allow it to be worn or places on a table to be admired.it is inspired by the work of Glenn Dizon a true master. Hope you enjoy Dave

Yeah, I see it now. Get yourself a hunk of black mirror glass to use as a stage. Your selenite or whatever that is kinda hides the piece. I think you are better than Dizon. I looked. I'm uninspired....

I think it has a kind of oriental flare to it. Very cool!

It's a cool piece alright, but you are correct in that I know nothing about casting. I can assume that it is difficult, as I don't see a lot of people doing it, or haven't since I joined up on here. Forgive me for being such a novice.

No disrespect taken, @arrowheadave.
'nice tumbler by the way, that's exactly where I started, now mine tumbles Jewelery'
That's what I'm afraid of. I look at your work and think 'THAT's what I want to do!'
I'm trying to remember, baby steps. Baby steps to the tumbler, baby steps to the slab saw, baby steps to the cabbing machine....

You have some serious wax carving skills. Wax work, plus creative vision, are the real marks of excellence in lost wax casting. I really like the style of your pendant. A 20 ct. main stone, that's a honker! No wonder you designed it for display as well as jewelry. Nice work.

Pretty sweet, I can't carve worth a hoot, I can't draw out a piece either. I look at the stone or just start with the bezel and like magic something happens. Nice work Mr. Dave.

My uncle works for a dental lab, and they let me work there for the last few summers. I did the wax up for gold crowns and metal bridge work.

I appreciate it Scott and Tella.i guess a lot of people don't understand the technical level of this piece.hmph. Quite possibly the case. My attempts at casting (ingots even) have floundered. I just can't get the stuff up to temp. Maybe I need a kiln? At least something to stop haemmorraging heat. My first attempt was only just semi-liquid. Second attempt a little better. Third attempt I've thrown something big enough to put through the mill. Did you also find a learning curve with this or do you just have the kit to crack on?? I rate what you've done, but am not sure I really get it. Firstly, its difficult even with your great pictures to visualise it in 3d. Secondly, is it a little too big for a pendant? And table-art?? Don't let me belittle this, you're making progress in strides.
