Yeah, I am ashamed at how little press the fires have been given here. I got more info reading here in the random thoughts thread. I really feel for those people. It's such a terrible thing. You don't just lose your home, you lose your whole community. Looks like others have really stepped in to help, though, which is nice.

Its still burning strong, a lot of untouched bush in its path ahead of it. I read today they have a 178 km fire break on the west and north part of the fire and some help arriving from around the world, the province asked for, 250 just from Africa. It crossed into Saskatchewan as predicted. Come June 1st the city is going to reopen and over the week start to let the peoples go back home or to whatever they can dig out of the rubble. A lot of fridges are expected to be needed etc... I'm guessing at least 80000+. Most everything is smoke damaged if not lost. The hospital is running its triage from tents outside. Its a start on restoration of homes and business for most all that fled. Oil sands have let in 150 workers to safely restart the shutdown plants back into operation. Thats the latest news.

Doesn't Bushman Billy work and live in the stricken area. Haven't heard many shouts from him lately, hope he is OK
