Tommy that's really interesting.I've never heard of anyone doing the girdle like that. The very first thing I do on a cab is cut in the girdle line. I eyeball it. On the 80 wheel, I leave it a little thin because I know it will thicken out on the 220 and 280. I love to do pointed cabs- mostly because I like to wrap pointed cabs and have a fondness for them. I've just started getting into inside curves, too. It's easier than I thought it would be. I have some crazy shapes going on! On points, after I get my girdle bevel cut, I only knock down the ridge a bit so I don't loose the thickness there. Then, for each wheel, I polish the points sideways on each side. I guess it doesn't make any sense typed, but it is actually pretty easy.

I invited him to the forum but he hasn't joined up so far. The left side of the setting is square wire on the silver backing. He uses a bur to grind out a taper so it will hold onto the cab. I don't think there's any liquid bezel (glue) involved.

Sounds like he sort of made his own stepped bezel and soldered it onto the backing. Is that accurate?
