A friend gave me a box full of geo pieces, good tumbling size. so, stage 1 started with 60/90 grit. After about 4 days I always open it just to make sure everything is moving along. The slurry was very thin but very gritty. The grit I put in and particles from the geo's. Kept tumbling without any change on my part. I noticed the geo's are getting smaller all over but the rock didn't seem to be rounding, just getting smaller...like shrinking. I stopped tumbling to ask... Does the process need to be changed or is that what usually happens? At the end the stones might be the size of grit. Any ideas to help this situation? ....maybe just toss the geo's in the garden? I don't know.

Seems most T eggs are mud with an agate, opal, etc. core. I haven't tried it, but I imagine the exterior would grind away leaving only the hard core, if anything.

I have about 25 RR moss bed eggs and want to tumble off the perlite crust. spiceman is 'geo' = geode? Then Eric has a point. Soon you may find the agate core.

Hey the tegg I have tumbled wear down with lots of undercutting but do get down to the interior eventually. I like them, they will be odd shaped not nice and round.

Do your geode pieces look like this, spiceman ?
If so, they won't tumble well. They are brittle and the crystals fall apart pretty easy. I have a tub of them that the neighborhood kids like to dig through. They're impressed that I'm giving them 'real crystals' to take home. Maybe you have something different. Have any photos?

The hard innards of my tegg are not round so you get vera interesting things. The outsides do polish in a way.

Rocker, yes they look like that and they don't tumble well. Just like you said and Like my slurry was so gritty from the geode pieces. It was crazy. The pieces ended up so small I was just wasting my time. Has any body ever tried a super glue on the crystals so they don't break in pieces?

Just throwing out a thought here, but wouldn't you just end of up w/ a hard super glue lump of shredded crystals?
