What I look for is texture, color, and contrast. You have all three there. I'd have my pockets full walking down that gravel pile. Tumble, or grind, or saw away.

The gravel was a 1/4 load at the end of driveway in NW WI. Pit run, they call it here. Can have rocks as large as 12" in it. Not far to travel to it, about 100'. Wanted to dig around in the last of it before someone actually used it on the shared driveway. I purchased it about 5 years ago and had been slowing looking through it.
