Nice stone and ring. Is that quartz it is sitting on? Going out on a limb, but by the crystal structure its calcite.

And thank you all very much for the compliments.it is in fact a ring that I had carved from wax and cast.ill post up some cast pendants I've been working on later Once again thank you all Dave

That is a very nice piece. With that being cast how is the stone held in place? Was the standing metal in the bezel area thin enough to push over the stone with a bezel roller? I am picturing the sides of the bezel at 90 degrees to the bottom to be able to load the stone then trying to figure out how you held the stone in place.

Chuck The bezel is way to thick to set with a burnisher or rocker.i have a polished brass dowel that I very gingerly hammer set the bezel with.the stone must fit the bezel precisely from the get go or it will jump when trying to set with a hammer. Thanks Dave The jade ring that I had posted before was way more difficult to set with the ends being open.almost gave up on that one. I'm finishing up a cool one today.stay tuned for later

the silversmithing is excellent (as usual) The bloodstone is a killer! That material is harder to get these days.......
