I decided earlier this year to finally attempt to make a knife. Well, maybe I should say assemble a knife. I bought the blank, a piece of stainless steel to shape for the guard, and used a hunk of banded iron I had sitting around for the handle. Being a hidden tang knife presented some problems, but in the end it all worked out. The handle started undercutting some so I didn't polish it as much as I'd like, but in hand it looks pretty good. I also made the sheath. Thanks for looking.

Thanks guys.
No trick at all Ed. All I did was groove 2 pieces. Once I was sure the tang would fit I glued them together.
Oh I forgot to add the spacer between handle and guard is leather I got from from Julie (mynewhobby) so many moons ago.

Thanks guys. I think I'd like to try this again, next time with a full tang knife. Time to start searching out supplies.

Outstanding Nate! I made a set of scales out of tiger iron for my pocket knife. It turned out really nice, but I left the knife in my pants pocket and it didn't survive the wash/spin cycle. Yes, we had words about checking pockets before washing.

I'm sorry, but I'm laughing so hard, maybe even crying. Only because of the same issue is going on here. Maybe your wife is doing my Landry too. My Blackbrry in very clean, my wallet, there is not enough room to tell you what has been cleaned in the washer. No kids yet...but you never know. LOL Been there, done that.

That's a lovely knife. Maybe a turn on the spin-cycle is a decent test for robustness?
