I went fishing at a pond for Father's Day. Noticed a rock that looked a little different than what I see. Got the rock, put it in the truck. My son laughed at me. OK, maybe I'm crazy but it looked different. The pond is next to I-70 in Ohio and very old. It split apart in transit. Is it just a old stupid rock? Or m aybe, something Im not used to seeing. Don't know.... Does anyone else know?

The inside looks like quartz. And some druzy quartz on the surface.

That's probably the most attractive rock you'll ever find in that part of Ohio, since about all you can find of interest in that whole state is fossils and flint. I would guess that it is quartzite, probably glacially deposited, with some druzy smokey quartz crystals. Looks like the quartzite is bound to a rock matrix that closely resembles matrix found in thunder bay amethyst but the outside shape looks more like it weathered out of a volcanic pocket somewhere. That is a strange one.

Good eye, spiceman. Probably the finest catch of the day?

I would display the druzy.

Next time, I will wash my hands before I post pictures of a unless rock and waste everyone's time. Druzy is very popular in jewelry right now.
