fox snake My snake I was wrong the first time because I didn't look very close as there are no native snakes that look like a fox snake. Good thing there wasn't money involved.

So has it eaten yet and/or laid eggs?

It did something in the dirt, but I am not sure. Today is mouse day I think. Hopefully they got some in.

She ate again today. Took the biggest mouse that was there. The mouse bit the hell out of me too. She took revenge rather quickly.

You're not going to believe this. I just went to check to see if she had it down yet and she has another one partly down.

I would not put more than one mouse in there at a time. The snake is totally defenseless when it already has one critter in it's mouth. I never offered more than one at a time, but I have heard/read of instances where additional critters (mice, rats) in the tank during feeding have attacked the snake.

That was one at a time, kind of. She was almost all of the way done when I put the other one in for the other one to eat. She is just a hog apparently.

Normally the big one grabs them so fast that she can't get to them in time.

You are feeding two snakes in the same enclosure?

Yes. That is where they live. Take one out and the other will not eat. Take the smaller one out and the big one becomes antisocial until the small one is returned. They appear to be quite fond of each other.

I worry if they both eat the same one, big one eats little one, both dead. Seen it! Imagine a 30# boa with a rabbit and a 12# boa inside.... Ughhh....
Not worried about the mice. They ain't shit. Rats on the other hand.... Never two weaned rats in a cage at a time.

Hey Mark K!! Any chance you can get a closer pic of the top and one side of her head? Even if it's just a crop of the raw pic. We can look at head scales and oculars.

Nasal opening centred in a scale for the fox snake. Not on the prairie king. I can't tell. Does your snake have this feature?

No, you were right, it is not a fox. I had my head in my duffle bag when I said that. I just wanted to show you what a pig she is now that she started eating on a regular basis.
