Just got into this hobby. How did I get here? Well I have always been a outdoorsy guy. From kayaking to camping. I have also thought about getting into rock tumbling a bunch of times but never bought a tumbler. Of all my outdoor adventures, disc golf lead me to getting a rock tumbler. See, my friend that I disc golf with is going to school for geology. I have always collected rocks but really didn't know anything about specific types. While we were disc golfing he found a really nice agate. It had multiple rings and layers. It was really pretty. About two holes later he found a large piece of petrified wood (I call it large) it was probably 8-10 inches long and 4-5 inches wide. I asked him how do you find awesome things like that. He says "I'm always looking down". Since then we play a lot of disc golf together and we are always on the search for rocks. Last week I was walking through a store called "Salvage World". I think they buy in bulk stores that are going out of business or extra manufacturers goods. As I walked through the store really not knowing what I was looking for I come across a Rotary Tumbler. It was the only tumbler there. Of course I bought it. $20 for a 3 lb tumbler (The brand is Chicago and they are sold at Harbor Frieght I found out). Since I have bought the tumbler I have been researching. I have been looking for "filler quartz" because I don't have enough small rocks for a tumble yet.
That's how I got here. I look forward to learning and sharing my experiences with you.

It is set up like golf except you have a metal basket and chains you putt into instead of a hole. You have different discs (putter, drivers, midrange) for different shots. Also 99% of courses are in parks for they are either free or the park entrance. Very affordable. Discs are $10- $20 each.
