How thick do you have your slurry? I keep mine thin to try to keep my slabettes and tumble cabs from sticking together. i wonder if this is causing them to not final polish as well?

I typically add some borax to keep the slurry stuck to the rocks in my Lot-O, then go add water a time or three daily to keep it moving in the barrel.

I keep mine thin also. I usually only add 1 teaspoon of polish and occasionally add 1 or 1/2 tsp of borax. For media, I have been using small ceramics and glass marbles. The kind that has 1 flat side. The problem I have found with the slabbettes is that tiny pieces break off from the rough edges and contaminates the polish. I thoroughly clean the media and remove any shards of rock. They usually do much better the 2nd time and I let them go for about 4 days just adding water.

Don't have a lot-o or do slabbettes just yet. Thumlers and tumbles.
I have found that using a thickener in all vibe stages excluding 220 is the way to go.
It's my opinion that the real work gets done down inside the load. It is not so much the rotation and tumbling that does the work. I think that when the rocks are down in the load vibrating against each other is when things really happen.
Thing is if your not happy with what your getting try something different.

Yes I agree that when they r buried that more contact is made. That's why I run a thinner slurry so they can vibrate faster but not so fast that they bruise.
