I am still working on bezel settings when I am able to find a little time. Lesson learned on this set was do not try to bezel set over any remotely sharp corners. Maybe there is a trick but I have tried a few times and every time the bezel has torn. Pretty happy with this guadalupe poppy jasper. Thought it would be a ring when I started but I chickened out and soldered a bail on it. This is my favorite so far. Too bad about the small tear at the bottom. In person it is still very nice. I have been wanting a Foredom but one of these sort of fell in my lap this week. I really like it so far. Mine did not come with many gadgets so I need to do some shopping. Chuck

Looking good! when you cab a point, round it ever so slightly to help in folding the bezel over it. Use the bezel roller and start at the point alternating from one side to the other, then work up both sides, again alternating every few MM, then switch to the top in front of the bail. For this to work, you must not have but precious little spare room in the bezel cup. If the stone fits easily in the bezel you will have problems with excess metal at points or where you meet with the forming.
PM at you

Thanks for the advice radio. I did try folding all three corners in first then worked the flats. I think the bottom was just a bit too sharp for my skill level. I like the shape and the look so I might try to cab something tonight with a larger bottom radius. Chuck

Chuck This is the bezel roller you want www.riogrande.com/Product/Brass-Bezel-Roller/113079 the brass is better than steel and the wider head doesn't slip off the edges as bad. I only use the narrower version for tighter places and have modified it to my liking

Those look good to me. I have a cab of royal aztec which is cut like a trillion silhouette- three pointy corners. I don't know how much bezel wire I wasted on it!! Think I'll ever so slightly round off the corners. That brass bezel tool is sooooo much better than the steel. I got one, too. Cheap enough to do as radio says and make a few custom ones, too. I have a toothbrush handle that I use, too. It doesn't mar the metal. Have you started making your own bails, yet?

I have not tried anything elaborate yet. Still working on the basics. I just made a triangle cab of pudding stone with rounded points to try next. The brass bezel roller is already in my cart at RIO, Just waiting for my scrap credit to show up for the pound of sterling I sent in. Chuck
