Hello everyone! Newbie here (long time rockhounder!!), I really want to thank everyone on this site for helping me out without even ever meeting me, let me explain and early apologies if this is not the place so to get my story started. I live in southern Colorado, about 21 years ago my girlfriend at the Time handed me a rock when we where taking a walk on the Arkansas river, and she picked up a rock and handed it to me, a beautiful brown agate river tumbled!(yes I still have it! And yes where still collecting together 20yrs.later).fast forward to may.26,2016 our first camping trip of the season! This one was special because I invited my mom and stepdad, looking forward to a 5 night trip, I brought along a collection of small rocks to show my mom, something I have never shared with her before,so on our first day up one showing up she was happy as could be it had been at least 2 years since they have been camping, we talked and laughed , my mom and stepdad got to take a walk I could hear them talking and laughing together, we settled down and had dinner, that afternoon was rainy and dark, the rain stopped right before sunset, we all came out around the campfire, we listened as my mom told stories of us when we where kids and sharing pictures grandkids on her phone.the sky dark with storm clouds the day was at an end with no sun in sight, and at that moment my mom says Eee! Look at that and we all turned to the mountains to look and the sun broke through the clouds it's radiant light engulfing all of us!it was her last gift to us in those few seconds as we turned back to her she was gone, her body went to rest and her spirit free, I feel blessed to have that day with her,, well the weeks after that hit the rocks hard hounding my favorite local spots thinking and thinking, and having some very good luck, but still mourning my loss, so one evening while researching my finds I came across RTH! So for about the last month or so I have been trolling, reading, and looking at everyone's post, you all put a smile on my face and even had me laughing at times, you guys and gals are great!!!!! And the people here are as unique and colorful an rare as the rocks we love, you all inspired me to dig out my 10$ latrone qt6 tumbler i found at a yard sale! And my my latrone 4 part grit set we picked up years ago,and put it to work, I look forward to sharing my finds and future tumbles with you all, I sincerely thank you all and RTH for making this site possible for us all to be here!!!!! ROCK!!! ON!!!!
