My 11 year old must of been hopped up on sugar yesterday and was driving me nuts wanting to break rocks with the sledge hammer. I tried to tell him he needed a long sleeve shirt and some jeans but just like my other kids he knows everything and insisted on shorts and a short sleeve shirt. He did grab the safety glasses without me asking . Just to prove me wrong he managed to bust up 35-40 pounds and not a drop of blood. I have no idea how because I can wear body armor and still have band aids ready to go every time I break rocks. Top of the bucket. Some really good looking stuff in the mix. Might be enough to entice me to turn the tumblers back on. Chuck and Andrew

Sweet! It's hard to find good help these days. Now get those barrels rolling again.

Nice! Now when can I expect him in Florida? Dang kid had enough energy yesterday that I think he could have jogged to Florida. Non stop all day. Around 8:00 Pm he was in the garage pulling out a bunch of pieces of scrap wood and asking me what he could build. Two hours later I had a new jewelry stand all clamped up waiting for the glue to dry. Of course his quick little project involved about an hours worth of me moving a bunch of rock stuff and metal smithing stuff before he could even get to the woodworking stuff. Today I get to put it all back, ugh. Chuck

You should stop complaining about Andrew breaking rocks. My son just broke my Jeep. Late night four wheeling took out the skid plate under the gas tank. I'd much rather have him break rocks.

I did I get bigger tires! No lift kit though. I guess if you give a kid a Jeep, he's going to go wheelin'.

I bet if you go look at the spot where it happened that you will find out he did break a rock. LOL Sorry about your and his luck. I was the same way when I was young, so understand it (and dread when my daughter will dive my truck in a few years).
By the way, Drummod IR - nice looking collection of rocks. Will your son tumble them or is he only interested in the smashing?

My son that got me started in this hobby is now 17 years old and has no interest anymore but my 11 yr old still wants to mess with rocks. He is most interested in finding them and in running my booth at shows but he did say he wants to tumble the stuff he busted up yesterday. Chuck

I was out messing around on his quad a few weeks ago because it needed to be rode and I broke the winch pulling my kid out. I don't mess with his jeep on the trails much though. I have learned not to borrow anything I cant afford to replace. Chuck

Chuck I bet I know what is now holding the 17 year olds interest ... and tumbling rocks won't help him get that. LOL He will "come back to the reservation" in a few years. As for the 11 year old, helping in the booth is a great learning experience for him. Good on ya!

Just remind him that is what happens when you fight the law. I can only assume he was in the hot sun while doing this. (see what I did there, huh? c'mon that's good stuff) Jugglerguy, my oldest just turned 16, and I suspect I'll have to deal with similar kinds of issues soon enough... You give a teenage boy a Jeep, and bad things are bound to happen. If he tore out the skid plate, I would assume the damage was limited to your vehicle and maybe a large rock or tree stump (fire hydrant?). Thanks for taking one for the team. =)
