Sorry if this information has been posted recently! I have done some research, but the information goes bad so quickly!!! I will be driving from Houston to Scottsdale, AZ next week and want to hit a few spots on the trip. I am looking to hit the following areas, but I really need advice & help to identify quality information!!! - Always wanted to hit Marfa / Alpine, but Terri doesn't start tours until October. - Balmorhea Lake, blue agate (Texas) - DoBell's Ranch, Petrified Wood - Black Hills and Round Mountain Rockhounding Areas - Burro Creek or Rodeo Flat (got some material from each, in my July Tumble-off prize box) ?? I will have a truck (2 wheel drive) and don't mind driving 3-4 hours if needed. Also, I will be heading out solo, so I would be up for a hounding partner if anyone is interested. Thanks in advance for any information you are willing to give!!! Jeremy

Did you contact Tim, the source of that box.
He is likely your finest possible resource.

Some of the places in that book are legitimately good. Others I have to wonder if they even exist any more. I just finished going through that book and plan to attempt some of the places on my next AZ trip which should maybe be in Jan/Feb. The book is pretty old and some of the directions are a little vague, however, it was edited by a pro unlike his disaster in the next book which he apparently edited himself and there are lots of errors which put you on VERY private property in places where you could get shot and no one would ever think to look.

I might give that one a miss then but by the time I ever get to paddle over the pond to AZ the book will be like a scroll and global warming will have reduced all rocks to liquid.

No. It will still get you to places. Just some have typos. I have worked quite a few of them out. Plus, OCD research will put you places that he never did right.

Any dry wash along your route that isn't fenced or posted private property is always a good place to hunt. Just watch for rattlers, scorpions & illegal aliens.
