Howdy folks, talked to a friend that just got back from Wallyworld's sale. She was raving about all the good deals (OMG, Flannel shirts for five dollars!!!) and also about how crowded it was. I'm sitting here thinking how I'd pay extra for my shirts ( Walmart shirts shrink like a bygod anyway) just to be able to "not" go shop anywhere on Black Friday. Am I weird? Is it just me? At best, I hate shopping except for rocks, guns, cowboy boots, or horse stuff anyway. Why would any sane person go fight those masses of idiots shopping today? Do all y'all go do this after you have a belly full of turkey?.....Mel

I with you Sabre52. I do not go to "Black Friday" sales, primarily due to the crowds and the resultant bad behavior. Sometimes, we go out geocaching or hiking. About the only thing that will force me to go to Wallyworld is when they have ammo on sale. Then I'll go (or one of my church buddies will call and one of us will go). I take it back, I did go out one Friday last year but that was to Nevada Book and Mineral to look at some rocks. This year, I'm primarily shopping on Amazon to avoid the crowds. Paul

No way in hell you would ever catch me in a store on Black Friday. I don't care to save a few bucks if I have to fight a crowd and traffic. I have done 99.9% of my shopping already - all online.

Made my black Friday appliance purchase last week!
Needed a new dishwasher and THD has some great prices for black Friday a week in advance...
I'm with y'all on the 'no way I'm going to a store today' sentiment. Except I forgot warm clothes and it's freezing up here. Sheesh it's like 40 or something!

Have never joined in the buy buy buy madness, and probably never will. Don't like malls anytime.
Had to buy a new dishwasher last week, too, at a sale price. Installed yesterday. Whew!!
Black Friday? No, thank you

I had to go to Home Depot today for some more outside Christmas lights & garland - 75 bucks! - sigh. That place was more crowded than I have ever seen it and I go there a lot. Who the hell goes to Home Depot on Black Friday? I understand if there is an appliance sale (there was), that could be a decent savings. But all the carts I was folks pushing around have little stuff in them. Big poinsettia sale today? criminy ... No way I would go anywhere with real Black Friday sales. Some trailer trash fat chick was walking into HD ahead of me when I got there. She was carrying a puppy with her. Why do these morons think they need to bring their dog to HD? For attention? Anyway, people, mostly old geezers, were all over her to see the puppy. So she stops right in the entrance door - ah yeah ... so people could fawn over her puppy. These folks never seen a dog before? I was behind her trying to get inside. See where this is headed? So, being Mister Congeniality, I say "Come on people, let's move it." Even the geezer door greeter gave me a dirty look. *snort* Nothing I enjoy more than ruffling feathers. No one was moving, so I got a bit louder. "Let's go, let's go!" got them motivated. I'm not talking about 5 seconds to see a dog, I was standing there with a shopping cart right behind this crowd (waiting patiently) for over 30 seconds before I spoke up. By that time I was full on out of patience! Shoulda pepper sprayed the entire lot of 'em. hum bug!

Great HD story, captbob ... It's similar to how people act at Costco. Stand in the middle of the aisles waiting for the silly samples. I can't stand going to Costco and it puts me in a really bad mood.
