SiC 30 in rotary till shaped, lazy 4 days cheap AO 80 in rotary, 15 hours AO 500 in Viking vibe. Skipped 220-500-1000. Not needed with AO 80. AO 80 did +3 weeks worth of finishing in the rotary that normally takes 3 weeks and 3 different abrasives in 4 days. Probably won't do a polish step. Self collected Rio conglomerate The others, 2 woods, a jasper and 2 mosses Forgot, this big coral was also run with these rocks in the rotary, put in vibe 24 hours AO 500 by itself to avoid possible frosting. BUT, rotary was filled to 80% with lots of 3/4 to 1 inch agate media to prevent bruises. These big rocks probably sped up the AO 80 finish to within a few days even with rotary filled 80%.

Nice. Reminds me I need to do my barrels. Did you recharge the AO 80 in that 4 days or just go 4 days with the original AO 80 load? How much 80 you using in what sized barrel?

Let them roll with the original AO. 8 pounds rock and only 6 tablespoons of AO 80, under dosed, usually use 10 tablespoons SiC for 8 pounds. 80% barrel fill. Keep in mind I used my clay with 50% sand because after 24 hours the AO 80 did not change the color of the water, water was dead clear. The AO 80 was not suspending and grinding, so the clay was added after 24 hours unfortunately. I don't think the sand is helping the finishing. The rocks were on the big side so 3/4-1 inch agate media was used in the rotary to make them run gentle. AO 80 doing some magic.

I had to Google Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins. Will Farrel movie, no wonder I didn't know what it was.
Guessing the kitty litter "clay" has sand in it as well.
Maybe there is a clay alternative even better than the sand containing clay....? I understand that your Georgia clay is local and free for you, but maybe there is another grit suspending option out there for those of us that can't walk out on our back 40 and dig up a bucket of free clay.
Work on that in your spare time would ya!

Thanks Jim! That is awesome. I have a couple pieces given to me by one of Mel's clients. Gotta get my tumbler rolling. I ordered 3/4" cold rolled and got one size bigger. Won't fit in the bearings...

Only AO 500 was run in the vibe. My vibe has a big motor and is costly to run, so I was trying to take a load off of it and do some lazy finishing in the rotary with the AO 80. Very happy with the AO 80 rotary run. No one uses AO 80 in a rotary that I am aware of. Consider it a new way to use your rotary to get to pre-polish.

Or I can find a dried pool/puddle on a construction site where the clay settled out of a pool of water. Yes, kitty litter may have silica/sand. and maybe the EPA forces them to remove the silica. Most lime has been screened for silica to < 1% for EPA requirements. Due to silica being considered a carcinogen. Same with kaolin clay processing, they too remove the silica to < 1%. Hard to find 50 pound bags though, most is sold in 2500 pound bags.

Uh, you got some of the best greens. Got some more, must be in the unopened boxes.

2500 pound bag = you keep 500 pounds and sell fifty 40 pound LFRB here. Cover the cost of your entire purchase.
Let me know when to send payment.
oh yeah... Merry Christmas!

Ha. No money in the tumbling biz. This is a settled clay pond. This clay has almost zero sand.

Now get to designing a diy BIG vibe tumbler that we can all afford :-) Two artiste dudes just left with a fire pit and cover. I think they were life partners. They had to see everything welded, rock and art related for the last 2 hours. Said similar about the different topics. Sent them home with a handful of tumbles. As Mom says, plume tuckered out; they tired me out. That coarse aluminum oxide is a bit of a miracle abrasive for the entire middle step of tumbling. Learned that it would preform well for our tumbling process from an abrasives salesman. Never hurts to listen closely Vibe tumblers ? Delving into a big challenge there.

MrMikeThe AO 80 experiment in the rotary has worked twice. No need for AO 10 or AO 24, the 80 will do the trick after SiC 30-46/70-60-60/90
