Hello,
I recently started making wood jewelry and doing stone inlays. So far I've done turquoise, malachite, kyanite, lapis lazule, and jade. I have to crush the stone and find similar sized pieces and inlay them piece by piece or pack it in depending on whether the stone keeps it's color crushed or not(Nephrite turns white if crushed into powder whereas lapis lazuli stays blue). I'm working with really small pieces of jade and I crush a polished piece and try to put the polished sides up in the jewelry. I want to use my tumbler to polish the really small pieces of jade and am wondering how much nephrite I'd need. I have a small rotary tumbler that I've never used. The pieces I use are soooooo small. I need to know how much nephrite to use(I imagine I will just have to try small pieces and see how it goes) what the best filler is in case I don't want to waste a bunch of jade on an experiment and any helpful tips? I've been reading lots and watched a lot. I already basically hand sand and polish but I'd like to get the small pieces polished before I set the inlay. Thanks in advance!
PS-site won't let me add attachment photos
