My Harbor Freight double barrel self destructed overnight after valiantly serving for 43 days. The bearings went, causing the motor mounts to melt. With the mounts loose, it ran the pulleys together, overheating the motor, and finally causing the motor to seize. Surprisingly it never broke a belt. In order to continue on my tumbling journey I ordered a 33b from the Rock Shed. My question is are the Chicago Electric barrels compatible with the new Lortone machine?

Pretty sure the size of the barrels will match but the knurled nut will need to be replaced with the lortone ones that have a groove in them. The groove holds the barrels in place when rolling. Chuck

I can probably just switch them out depending on which barrels I am using then. Only need 2 nuts at a time!

Chuck Nope, that nut only keeps the barrel in place on a QT66 or QT12. On the 33B, there is just a little nylon washer that the barrel rides up against. The nut doesn't touch any part of the base of the machine.

On my homemade one I use the guides from the QT series for my three pound barrels too. I like them better then the washer. Chuck

I have a HF barrel on a Lortone 33b right now. Size is the same, nut doesn't make any kind of difference.

The threads r different on the HB versus Lortone. I just use the HB barrel and let the nut rub on the metal dtandadr, been working for years that wsy!

Drill a hole and use a bolt with a washer that can turn and let it hit the nut.
