What kind of Epoxy is best for attaching Glue-on Bails to Pre-forms and Cabs?
Thanks

Doesn't E6000 stay flexible? Seems like it would come off easier if flexible.

I haven't tried E6000 so it might be better, but I prefer JB Weld 24 hour cure. Use it in moderation because it's dark gray and will stick out like a sore thumb if allowed to ooze out from under the bail.
I find that for the best results the surface where the bail will be stuck needs to be kept rough or roughed up a little bit - my unscientific theory is that a rougher surface has a lot more surfaces to grab to than a glassy smooth one does.

Been there done that. Did some glue on bails back when I first started making cabs. E6000 was not a good choice and got even worse if the items were out in the sun (heat) at vendor shows. At a minimum I would go with two-part epoxy like the devcon 5 minute stuff the rock shed sells. I have substituted the Devcon for 5 minute gorilla glue epoxy that Home Depot sells. Says right on the package that it can be used for stone to metal applications. therockshed.com/findings1.htmlwww.gorillatough.com/gorilla-epoxyI also found that trying to get any adhesive to bond properly I would use a diamond tipped burr and scuff up the area where the bail goes. Nothing likes to stick to a super high gloss agate. Chuck

That link to the Crucifixes is very good. I was wondering how to cut them out without the undercutting, or all the extra and difficult corner grinding. The special rig to correct the angle of the cut is perfect. Thanks
Do you put a bevel on all the edges or just go straight to the tumbler.

I use this I also use it to stabilize small cabs. Do not use the spray! It makes it hazy. Just be real careful applying it (I use a good paint brush). Oh and E6000 has a particular line that is specific for jewelry. It works as well. After refurbishing sail boats most of my life I've gotten pretty used to 100's of different adhesives.
